Traditional Tea Ceremony
Cha Dao - the way of tea.
Tea is a Shen (spirit) tonic to brighten the eyes & bring the mind back to heart center, making space for the ‘peaceful essence of Nature, of misty clouds, bubbling springs and sturdy boulders’.
- Xu Wei, excerpt from Seven Aspects of Tea Brewing
Seasonally, next date - 20 January - Da Han - Major Cold
Traditional tea ceremony held once a month in a time of Yin peace and calm just after the new moon, cleansing mind and body pure so as high Yang energy can be rooted as it builds into the full moon. And another cycle passes through...
During our tea, we reflect on current seasonal nodes and observe the presence of the weather. Sipping tea, curated to match the mood of the season, in meditative community builds Yang while Yin is nourished through quiet introspection.
The tea stage will always be situated in a place of nature, no matter the weather, we will sit outside, amidst the elements that enliven the earth each season. Please bring weather-appropriate garb and any seating cushions that may make you more at ease on our journey through tea.
All welcome to take part, however, space limited. RSVP only.
Tea, a practice of ritual in connecting with the elements, a melding of the temple of the body within the greater temple of nature.
Water springs from the earth, guided by stone and held within the gentle confines of a metal pot, carries ancient stories and memories.
Enlivened by Fire, these two opposing forces come together in an alchemical dance, gentle flame, lit with intention.
Fire awakens water awakens tea awakens us.
